Guest reviewer JM here. I am reviewing Anna Durand’s book – Dangerous in a Kilt. Ok I love Scots and my husband wore a kilt at our wedding (Scottish American, sadly no brogue but I still like him) – so big win and this book was sexy! Good girl Erica is in some sort of club (it is never explained what the club is, but alludes to the fact it is very risque). She is supposed to meet a blind date. Thinking the man in the kilt, Lachlan, is her very late date, Erica sets off to seduce him despite her sloppy drunkenness. See Erica is expecting to go away for a crime she didn’t commit, but the evidence has been stacked up against her. So she is hoping to have a one-night fling before going to jail. Only Lachlan is not her blind date, nope he’s her neighbor for the next month. Instead of a one-night stand, Lachlan proposes a month long affair while on his vacation in the States. The circumstances behind Erica’s crime and why Lachlan is away from his Scottish lands are a bit vague. It takes most of the book for Erica and Lachlan to come clean with each other and the reader, but the intrigue is enough to keep this reader engaged and very curious.
While yes it does take the characters a while to do the deed, the foreplay is immediate and plentiful. Durand makes you feel as if you are Erica and experiencing her pleasure. There is great detail and Lachlan is a very attentive lover (swoon). He is definitely not a slam, bam, thank you ma’am kinda guy; rather he is slow and sensual. The sex is well detailed, but not kinky in the least.
I definitely like this book and look forward to more Hot Scots in the future!
I swigged my brandy. A flash of fruity sweetness raced over my tongue, chased by a tangy burn. Why was I waiting for a man who didn’t have the courtesy to call and cancel? Enough of this. I leaped off the stool onto my five-inch heels and tottered, mirroring my stool’s motion. What the hell had I been thinking, wearing stilettos for the first time in my life?
Strong hands grasped my upper arms. “Easy there.”
I craned my neck to behold my would-be savior. My heart thudded.
A giant of a man peered down into my eyes, his body towering several inches above me. Whoa, mama. The heels elevated my five-four to five-ten, which must’ve made him well over six feet tall. Thick muscles in his impossibly broad shoulders flexed as he maintained his hold on me. The lights glistened on his short, dark hair, casting it in unearthly hues. The sensation of his fingers on my skin and the proximity of his body flooded me with heat and my mouth watered at the sight of acres of hard, defined muscles straining his skintight black T-shirt. His powerful thighs vanished under a kilt, its plaid woven in pastel shades of green and blue with orange lines threaded through them. The blue in the fabric echoed his pale eyes, which studied me with electrifying interest. Black combat boots covered his feet but somehow, combined with his angular features, they lent him a rugged appeal.
I raked my gaze over his body, drinking in every inch of him, until our gazes intersected.
