The Darkest Night is not like other paranormal books. This series is based on Greek Mythology and Pandora's Box. I got sucked in immediately and read the whole series.
The background of the book is that a group of immortal warriors who fight for the Greek Gods, were not asked to watch Pandora's box. Having felt insulted that they are some of the best warriors and weren't given the task, they got upset and opened the box. All of the demons (Pain, Death, Violence, Promiscuity, Doubt, etc.) took possession of each of the warriors bodies and were tormented them forever.
Currently, the warriors all live together in a castle in Budapest. Ashlyn Darrow, the main female character, is tormented in her ability to hear all conversations that have occurred in whatever location she presently is in. So she flies to Budapest to seek the help of the warriors.
Each book is about a different Lord, but you do need to read the books in order. This one is about Maddox, tormented by Violence, and Ashlyn. It was so refreshing to read something different...not just vampires or werewolves (which I do love too). I enjoyed the Lords, all sub characters, and the story line told throughout the books. Happy reading!
