Ten years ago Ivy Breckenridge’s life was ruined. She had to reinvent herself, and now, after painstakingly making her own way in the world, she’s nearly forgotten the dreams of home and family she’d once nurtured. Until one man peers into her soul and awakens every one of her hidden desires. But no matter how good he makes her feel, she can’t trust him—alone by choice is better than alone by necessity.

With a notorious reputation for training married women in the art of passion, Sebastian Westgate, Duke of Clare, is reviled by some and celebrated by others. He doesn’t allow anyone close enough to see past his charming exterior. When Ivy uncovers the man beneath, the seducer is suddenly the seduced. Enraptured by her mind and spirit, he wants more but revealing his darkest secrets is a price he won’t pay.

Oh the Duke of Desire (or the Duke of Clare, West – as he is know by his friends) will make you swoon!

While The Duke of Clare (West) has a scandalous reputation, he is actually a man with a heart and a mission.  He is involved with married women to teach them the art of love, with their husband’s permission (if not insistence ).

Ivy is a independent woman who believes in helping others that society has forgotten.  Ivy is also a woman with a secret – she was ruined (aka she lost her virginity to a man who didn’t marry her).  She has reinvented herself as a mature woman’s companion.

West is taken with the lovely Ivy.  What starts out as a curiosity becomes life changing for both of them.

The Duke of Desire is a fun romp through England.  The characters are engaging and interesting.  There is a passion with the character of West that really kept me engaged.  I enjoyed the book thoroughly.

While this is the 4th book, I hadn’t read the other three and didn’t feel I was missing out on the story.  This story really focuses on West and Ivy, while the other stories focused on what are supporting players in this book.

While there was some spicy parts, it was pretty tame.  This book is very much about the romance of West and Ivy and if they can overcome society and their own expectations of what life is supposed to be for them. Definitely looking forward to reading more Darcy Burke books!

Darcy Burke

Darcy Burke is the USA Today Bestselling Author of hot, action-packed historical and sexy, emotional contemporary romance. Darcy wrote her first book at age 11, a happily ever after about a swan addicted to magic and the female swan who loved him, with exceedingly poor illustrations.

A native Oregonian, Darcy lives on the edge of wine country with her guitar-strumming husband, their two hilarious kids who seem to have inherited the writing gene, and two Bengal cats. In her “spare” time Darcy is a serial volunteer enrolled in a 12-step program where one learns to say “no,” but she keeps having to start over. She’s also a fair-weather runner, and her happy places are Disneyland and Labor Day weekend at the Gorge.
