Title: The Effects of Falling
Series: The Weight of Rain Duet #2
Author: Mariah Dietz
Release Date: Aug 2, 2016
I have loved my best friend for eleven years.
Eleven years of celebrations.
Eleven years of victories and losses.
Eleven years of inside jokes and shared smiles.
Eleven years of helping him raise his daughter as a single father.
He smiles at me and my world brightens.
He ignores me and I forget how to function.
He holds my hand and takes more of my heart.
He leaves and time stops.
We have both lost too much, but am I willing to risk the effects of falling again?
The Effects of Falling by Mariah Dietz is the second novel in The Weight of Rain Duet. I have not read the first book, The Weight of Rain, and had no difficulty following this story. Although, I will be going back to read the first novel as I really enjoyed the characters and wanted to know King and Kenzie’s story. This novel can be read by itself, but I feel that you will get the best experience by reading them in order.
This novel was very emotional for me… the story line as well as the characters. Summer has loved her best friend Kash for 11 years. She has been there for Kash through his difficult times as well as his successes in his career. Both Kash and Summer obviously have deep feelings for each other, but it’s not that simple. They both have fears and Kash has to think about his daughter.
I believe this series should be an automatic one-click buy for all those who love a strong alpha male who is also a single father. I just love everything about Kash and Summer as well as the family unity that Ms. Dietz portrayed!

One night changed my life-one that I barely remember.
When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.
I’m an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am.
Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched.
When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?
Mariah Dietz lives in Eastern Washington with her husband and two sons that are the axis of her crazy and wonderful world.
Mariah grew up in a tiny town outside of Portland, Oregon where she spent the majority of her time immersed in the pages of books that she both read and created.
She has a love for all things that include her sons, good coffee, books, travel, and dark chocolate. She also has a deep passion for the stories she writes, and hopes readers enjoy the journeys she takes them on, as much as she loves creating them.
