Lara’s Journal

Hidden Motives Book # 2
By A. Gavazzoni
Released: January 16th, 2017

Simone Bennet is on a long vacation, trying to heal from the trauma she suffered at the hands of a serial-killer kidnapper. After looking death in the face, she tries to develop a new outlook on life—live in the moment!

Carl, the charming lawyer, is back, asking once more for Simone’s help, this time in analyzing Lara’s journals, which were discovered by her siblings after her death. In her own words, Lara divulges all her secrets, and reveals a dramatic world of betrayal, passion, and the most unusual sexual behaviors, exposing the beautiful architect’s troubled life.

As Simone tries to deal with the contents of Lara’s haunting diaries, one of her patients gets himself into a bit of legal trouble, forcing Simone to return early from her vacation. Although she’s happy to be back on her home turf, she finds herself surrounded by a whole new set of problems.

A killer is out there, and this time, he seems to be after the people Simone cares about most. Suddenly, people around her are dying, a stalker/admirer keeps showing up at all the wrong times, and Simone’s dear friend Edward has a new girlfriend—forcing Simone to analyze her feelings for him and her attraction to Carl.

Lara’s Journal is the second book in the Hidden Motives series by A. Gavazzoni and a deliciously suspenseful novel.  It is essential to read Behind the Door, the first book in the series, to fully understand and appreciate this story.  Lara’s Journal begins a month after Behind the Door with Simone on vacation.  She is contacted by Carl stating that Lara’s siblings found her journal. They wanted Simone to read them for her professional opinion. This story flips back and forth between Simone, in the present time, and Lara’s experiences as told from her diary.  Even though it does switch often, Ms. Gavazzoni does a wonderful job of not making it confusing.  I enjoyed reading from Lara’s perspective and like the first book…. this was a thrilling page turner!

The story line is well paced and the characters are complex and well-developed and I was guessing ‘who-done-it’ until the very last pages. There is so many twists and turns that I was gripping my Kindle late into the night.

A definite one-click series for those who love an erotic thriller with lots of twists!

Kiss with Blurb

When Lara dies at the hands of a Manhattan lawyer during a sex game, his defense attorney, Carl, hires Simone, a psychiatrist, professor and author of books on sexual behavior to help him buttress his argument that Lara’s death was accidental. To help his defense, Carl’s client has written a detailed account of his steamy, year-long relationship with Lara. Carl gives the text to Simone for analysis. While evaluating the presumed killer’s writing, Simone continues to receive psychiatric patients with sexual disorders and unusual fantasies, and to research strange sexual behavior for her next book.

Meanwhile, Simone’s clinical partner, friend and research colleague, Edward, is working with the police to capture a serial killer who is torturing and killing women. From hot and unusual sex and interesting psychiatric patients, to the swing houses of New York and Paris, this fast-paced page-turner is a blend of mystery, suspense, humor, romance and erotica.

Behind the Door by A. Gavazzoni is a suspenseful erotic thriller which involves a lawyer, Carl, requesting the services of a psychiatrist, Simone, who specializes in sexual behaviors.   Carl asks Simone to give her professional opinion of a client of his who is going on trial for possible murder.  The client was dating a woman, Lara, who passed away during the sexual practice of autoerotic asphyxiation.  Carl provided Simone with a manuscript written by the client detailing the events leading up to her death.

The story flips back and forth between the past and the present with many surprising twists and turns.  I was guessing “who-done-it” up until the very end of the story, which does include some detailed BDSM practices.    I recommend this book to anyone who love an erotic thriller.
