A few days ago, in a galaxy right here…

The earth faces total annihilation and one young woman signs up for a mission to rescue humanity. Only she ends up getting rescued herself, by a gorgeous space pirate. And the sex is out of this world!

Hopeless romantic, Ruby Robbins spends her days as an accounts clerk, and her nights with her head in the stars, dreaming of space adventures in the arms of an alien…or two. Then one day, she’s approached to help her country by going undercover…in space! She jumps at the chance and before she knows it, she finds herself in the cargo hold of an alien slaver ship.

Space pirate, Killian Sharpe owes a lot of money to some very bad people. So when an anonymous employer offers him a tidy sum to extract one Ruby Robbins from a slaver ship, it sounds like easy money. But once he sets eyes on Ruby, he knows he’s in over his head. Not only is she breathtakingly beautiful—she refuses to be saved.

Luckily Killian hasn’t met a woman yet who could hold out against him for long….

So I admit when I started to read for Rescued by the Space Pirate I wasn’t sure what I was in for. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the next installment!
The space pirates made me think  of Guardians  of the Galaxy’s characters – Peter Quill and Yondu Udonta (the Chris Pratt character and the blue guy with the Mohawk). So Killian and Zak (human and blue alien) are good friends and are paid to go save an earth girl who they think is a sex slave, but she is actually on a secret mission.
Oh and there is a fair amount of sex. I gave it a 1 for fetish because I thought the sex slave and potential alien sex might be considered a fetish  (I don’t know –  is alien sex a fetish?).  There is also some strapped to a table alien probing (again, could be a fetish?)
The book is very funny (none of these characters take themselves too seriously – which is my kind of Space Pirates!). It was fast paced and a quick read. The story switches between Ruby’s and Killian’s perspective.  This first book has a bit of backstory about Ruby, Killian, and Zak (blue alien partner).
This book wets the appetite and I can’t wait for the next one!

Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. Nina’s writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction.
