Will you be Tempted? Will Love save your Soul?

One nation under his reign.
Cardinal sins of man caused humanity to pay the price. Cali Nasser grew up in a world succeeding World War III. The aftermath forced the world dictatorship that she must now live in. A new Regime arose from the ashes. They demanded obedience and cooperation from every citizen, even in matters of the heart.

One domain … One accord … One nation. That is the moral code. In Cali’s eyes, it all revolves around a twisted plot for control.
It used to sicken Cali how people would allow the Regime to test their love through the Temptation Trials. That is, until she met Kincade. Cali’s entire point of view changes when she falls for him. She struggles with herself, debating if she should challenge the government’s law of arranged marriage.

Cali’s childhood friend, Stefani, always kept a positive perspective about their lives until she was threatened with the same dilemma, at odds over the man she loves.

Now Cali and Stefani face a desperate choice—submit to the Regime’s will, or fight for what they value most—love. Although lust, mistaken for love, could lead to damnation. Do they give up on love or sign up for the Temptation Trials, a reality TV show where every temptation is laid before them?
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Can love save their souls?

Temptation Trials Part 1 is a mix of Bachelor in Paradise and a sprinkle of The Handmaid’s Tale. The world Cali and Stefani live in is full of rules. The government for the world is one order with controlled News and entertainment. The hottest thing on television (there are no movies, but books seem safe) is the Temptation Trials. Why would anyone want their love tested by the government and basically broadcast their humiliation and heartbreak for the world to see? Because at 21 years old, everyone is assigned a marriage partner and the Temptation Trials are the only way you can marry the person you love. Mind you, you must survive six weeks of not being with your love and watching them (and yourself) be tempted with other people. Cali and Stefani, along with their boyfriends (and resistance fighters) try to succeed where no other couple has before.

The first part of the book is Cali and Stefani, meeting and falling in love with their boyfriends, Cade and Tobias. Having avoided romance in the past because of the loom of arranged marriage, both girls have managed to live with their hearts intact – well until they meet resistance type fighters (this is a bit vague in the book) and fall in love. When they realize their deep feelings each couple decides to risk the Temptation Trials. The second part of the book is their journey through life in paradise while hoping the love of your life doesn’t cheat on you – because you know you’ll never succumb.

The first part of the book was fine. It was heavy with dialogue (which I like), but at times the conversation was stilted and unnatural. Cade and Tobias work with a resistance like organization that they don’t really explain. I am guessing the role of the organization will come more heavily into play in The Temptation Trial Part Two but in this book, it was vague and made me wonder why these two guys would choose to be on a reality type show. The second part of the book had a lot more action and a clear path of where it was going, so the dialogue improved greatly. There was plenty of intrigues and curious behavior to keep this reader engaged and wondering what the powers-that-be are up to with our heroines.
